Possible abuse at Lundsberg

8/26/2013

Reports of possible abuse have reached us. The Lundsberg elite boarding school became noticed in the media because a boy was rushed to the hospital with severe burns after an introduction event at the school.

The school – founded in 1896 – has a number of prominent students among its alumnis. Members of the royal family have been students there as well as a number of diplomats and politicians.

Former students speak of the use of corporal punishment among the students. It seems that the students are required to keep a kind of informal standard where older students put younger students into place if they act out.

  • Among the incidents are nightly raids in the dorms conducted by senior students, so newcomers were beaten.
  • Newcomers were forced to have a broom-stick with a condom put up in private parts.
  • Rule breakers were required to receive electrical shocks with an electric fly swatter on more sensitive parts of their body.
  • Newcomers were spoken of in degrading language like slaves.
It is a degree of bullying which the official Sweden would disapprove of. In fact Sweden was among the first school to create a strategy against bullying in public schools. It is odd and very shocking that department of education in Sweden has not shut the school down.

They need to do that to show that they take bullying seriously. Nothing would do it.

A girl is sent to a Utah boarding school by court order which was manipulated by her father.

The girl and her mother have been living peacefully for some time when her father (Long time out of the picture) wanted to be a part of her life.

She didn't want that due to court intervention she is being banished to the desert each of Hurricane to some kind of boarding school named Diamond Ranch Academy.

There are many negative stories about this particular school on the internet. Due to some legal circumstances the boarding school was forced to move from Idaho after an intervention by the social services.

We will ask you to sign a petition against her banishment. Hopefully the media interest will result in her being returned before she is too damaged by the harsh treatment at the school. A school where a boy died in 2009.

Once again has the government in Costa Rica closed a boarding school for teenagers from the United States down.

Over the years has there been such closings in the Costa Rica, the Czech republic and Mexico.

It seems that the method of forcing teenagers to go to school outside their hometown may be conflicting with basic humans rights, which is something parents in every country should consider.

As long as the court down in Costa Rica hasn't ruled in this case, it is not known what led the government to start the investigation. We hope to receive more information about this case later.

Damage control in a time of recession

In 2010 the Danish economy was under severe pressure. The government tried to impose a number of cuts in all sectors - also the education sector.

Several places in Denmark the children do no longer learn how to swim in water. They are told to do swiming exercises on land.

Also a number of smaller schools have been closed and a higher number of students are put in every class.

Everybody did suffer. All but the boarding schools known in Danish as "Efterskoler". They have a large lobbyist organization called the "Efterskoleforeningen".

First and foremost they hunt down every negative article online or in newspapers trying to do damage control. Even on foreign versions of Wikipedia they are active. People can judge for themselves by looking at the history of continuation schools and the marketing article the association created on Wikipedia trying to distance themselves from other kind of boarding schools regardless of the fact that they offer what most boarding schools market: Small classes and special subjects.

In the end they managed to be spared in the cuts putting a burden on the public school system in Denmark, which lose a huge amount everytime a stuent choose these "Efterskoler" instead of the normal public schools.

In a country many Americans find under influence of socialism it is a rare exception.

In the school year 2010 - 2011 news about a number dangerous situations at sea reached the newspapers. Also a number of cases involving lack of supervision and violence among the students were published.

Still the schools try to supress the truth and selling a product to the families which can be dangerous to the individual student.

We will monitor the present vandalism of Wikipedia and follow their other movements.

Citizens in the United States are concerned

We have received news about a boarding school in Oregon, which are under investigation by human right organizations in the United States.

The boarding school in question is named Academy at Sisters.

We understand that they intend to detain a 15 year old girl from Hillsboro in Oregon at this boarding school, which have hidden the location of one of their campuses from their webpage. Unlike most boarding schools the student manual is not published at their webpage and it is concerning.

We urge our volunteers to help the organizations in the United States to digg up all tax-records and staff information.
